Well equipped shop with very helpful manager and you can park right outside the door

My experience with Grenville crafts has been mainly buying ring blanks. So this was the first time I have orders any machinery. Although the shipping was speedy and recovering great condition I would like to recommend improving the communication tried ringing and sent an email for wich they said I had some sort of ticket, no good to me. I received an email the afternoon before delivery the day after with it being such short notice I had to skip work as couldn’t arrange for someone to be at home to take delivery. Totally happy with everything else just not the coms it could be better.

We popped in today to put together a birthday hamper for my father-in-law, a keen woodturner, and couldn't have asked for better service.

The staff member who helped us was brilliant — genuinely knowledgeable and generous with his time, talking us through different timber options and helping us pick out a good mix of blanks (ebony, wild mango, and some lovely purple heart) for the hamper. He recommended Northern Grit abrasive paste and a Chestnut Products food-safe oil as finishing products, both spot on for what we needed.

He even threw in a couple of bags of wood wool free of charge so we could use it to decorate the hamper, which was a really thoughtful touch — and useful kindling for my father-in-law afterwards too.

The range in store is excellent, prices are fair, and it's clear the staff genuinely know and care about the craft. Well worth the drive from Lancashire — we're not woodturners ourselves, but I've no doubt my father-in-law will be back as a customer himself after seeing what we picked up. Thank you!

This is a great shop for everything to do with woodturning. Phillip is a very knowledgeable guy andgive his knowledge everyone we go in.

This was an opportune visit due to being in the vacinity of this shop. They had plenty of choice of turning blanks. Which is why I paid this shop a visit. Reasonably priced and a good choice. I will definitely go there again when I am passing by.

Ordered one day, delivered next. Easy to navigate website, ordering and paying a breeze

I attended the pen turning course in Harrogate last Monday. Everyone I met was super friendly and easy to get on with.
I’m 64 and never touched a lathe in over 50 years so I was a little nervous but my instructor for the day (Ian) put me at ease right away. I hit lucky and got one to one tuition for the full day. By lunchtime I’d made my first pen, I was chuffed to bits.
Had half an hour in the store downstairs which I incredibly well stocked, so I had to buy a few bits.
Back into the course and turned another 2 pens, one wood one acrylic. The wife was well pleased.
Ian went through all of the tools and equipment involved in pen making. How to use them in the most efficient way and led me through the whole process of turning a block of wood into a fully functional polished pen. Instruction was also given on the various finishes that could be used on the wood and the pros and cons of each. I’d watched many videos before attending the course so had a fair idea of the process involved but with Ian who incidentally is a full time professional wood turner by my side, you quickly learn that in reality it a very different process when you have your hand on the tools yourself.
Overall, a brilliant company offering a well structured course with a top class instructor, you couldn’t ask for anymore. However there was plenty of coffee on tap so I had a fantastic day learning a new skill.
