About Kirinite

Kirinite is a cast thermoset acrylic resin made in Italy. Materials of this type are used widely for writing instruments, fashion accessories and interior design. It is very hard-wearing, which makes it a good choice for high-quality pens and for jewellery such as pendants. Kirinite turns and polishes very nicely, and it can be worked on hand and CNC lathes as well as milled, drilled and laser cut. For kitless and custom pen makers, it takes a very clean thread.

Turning tips

• Keep your tools very sharp and use a light touch.
• Run your lathe at as high a speed as you are comfortable with.
• We recommend painting the inside of the blank after drilling, before you glue in the tube, so the tube does not show through.
• Mesh sanding pads and Yorkshire Grit abrasive paste give an excellent finish.
