Ziricote ranges from medium to dark brown, sometimes with a green or purple hue, with darker bands of black growth rings.

Using a wood pen blank
Check the tube length and drill size of your pen kit before you start. Cut the blank to the length of the tubes, drill it, glue in the tubes, square the ends and turn the blank between bushings on a pen mandrel. Sand and finish to suit; CA glue, wax and lacquer are all popular finishes for wooden pens.
Natural timber
Wood is a natural material, so colour, grain and markings vary from piece to piece. The blank you receive will not look exactly like the photo, and that individual character is part of the appeal of every turned piece.
