Choosing a bowl blank
Consider both the diameter and the depth of your design when choosing a size, and allow for the material removed during shaping, hollowing and finishing. Sizes are approximate. Mount the blank on a faceplate, screw chuck or woodturning chuck before you start roughing out.
Natural timber
Wood is a natural material, so colour, grain and markings vary from piece to piece. The blank you receive will not look exactly like the photo, and that individual character is part of the appeal of every turned piece.
