Description
Masasa bowl blanks
Masasa woodturning bowl blanks, ready for shaping into bowls and other turned pieces on your lathe.
About Masasa
The heartwood of Masasa is a uniform red-brown and clearly defined. It is a hard timber that turns well, sands well and takes oils and varnish well. Tools must be sharp.
Specification
- Timber: Masasa
- Shape: bowl blank
- Sizes: 10 x 10 x 2, 8 x 8 x 2, 6 x 6 x 3, 6 x 6 x 2, 8 x 8 x 3, 6 x 6 x 4, 4 x 4 x 2 (approx, in inches unless marked)
Choosing a bowl blank
Consider both the diameter and the depth of your design when choosing a size, and allow for the material removed during shaping, hollowing and finishing. Sizes are approximate. Mount the blank on a faceplate, screw chuck or woodturning chuck before you start roughing out.
Natural timber
Wood is a natural material, so colour, grain and markings vary from piece to piece. The blank you receive will not look exactly like the photo, and that individual character is part of the appeal of every turned piece.
