Made from slow grown European beech and birch, it is extremely robust. Its construction uses 2x 40mm thick slabs of laminated beech, each measuring 1,800mm x 250mm. A central shallow recess of 330mm width runs along the full length. This gives a bench size of 1,800 x 830mm. There is the provision to add a 180mm (7") York woodworking vice to each side, two vice mounting kits are included. The frame is made from 80mm square legs and 90 x 40mm braces, firmly bolted together to form a rigid frame; two birch ply panels create a 1,340 x 705mm shelf within the legs, supported on the braces. Easy to assemble, this is reminiscent of a traditional school woodworking bench brought up-to-date. No vices are included with this bench, they are available as an optional extra. Please note: Axminster recommends sealing the bench with two or three coats of finishing varnish on the top, underside and dog holes. This treatment should be maintained from time to time.
