1" Wood Threading Kit
Cut external and internal threads in wood • Screw box designed to allow easy chip clearance • Taps made from hardened tool steel • Make toys, nut crackers, wooden clamps • Join turned partsCut internal and external threads in wood. Each kit comprises a screw box with which to make the male thread and two matching taps; a starter and a bottom for the female thread. The starter tap is used to initiate the threading process, also cutting through existing threads. The bottom tap is then employed to precisely finish cutting a thread in a blind hole. The screw box features a removable hardened steel cutter engineered for efficient chip removal, while the taps are constructed from hardened tool steel to ensure durability and precision. This wood threading kit allows you to create nut crackers, wooden nuts and bolts, toys, wooden vices, or seamlessly join turned parts with robust threaded connections. For optimal results, it is recommended to use a straight-grained hardwood. A helpful tip for achieving a superior finish on male threads is to soak dowels in oil, such as linseed or tung oil, before commencing the threading process. The size of the wood threading kit corresponds to the size of the dowel intended for creating the male threads. Recommended pilot hole diameters for the female threads:- 1/2" tap = 3/8" pilot hole 3/4" tap = 5/8 pilot hole 1" tap = 7/8" pilot hole 1.1/2" tap = 1.3/8" pilot hole Instructions included.
