Yorkshire Grit – UK Supplier

Greenvill crafts, the online wood/pen turning, ring making & craft shop are now an official retailer for Yorkshire grit.

What is Yorkshire Grit?

Yorkshire grit is an abrasive paste designed to make the finishing of products made on a woodturning lathe, much quicker, simpler and with much less dust.

Yorkshire Grit comes in 2 varieties, original & microfine.

Yorkshire Grit Original Woodturners Paste

Yorkshire Grit - Original - Woodturners Abrasive Paste

Yorkshire Grit Original Woodturners Paste is a hand blended mix of mineral oil, lemon oil, beeswax, rotten stone and pumice designed to give your wood turning the perfect foundation for finishing.

In many cases Yorkshire Grit can be applied after you have sanded your piece to 240 grit.

This fantastic abrasive paste is pretty much universal – You can use on wood & acrylic turned pieces along with hybrid (mixture of wood & acrylic).

Yorkshire Grit Microfine

Yorkshire Grit Microfine is a hand blended mix of mineral oil, beeswax & microfine abrasive powders designed to leave a highly polished surface.

Yorkshire Grit - Microfine - Woodturners Abrasive Paste

When using Yorkshire Grit Microfine, if possible first sand to 240 grit, then apply Yorkshire Grit Original, then move onto the Microfine paste.

If you don’t have the original paste handy, then start by sanding up to at least 600 grit before moving onto the Microfine paste.

We use Yorkshire Grit ourselves and now wouldn’t be without it!
